SPRING SEMESTER....

Right now it is 9 degrees!  I have been living in 80 degree weather for the past 2 weeks so this is COLD.  It's once again time to warm us up to the inviting sounds of music.  The studio starts up January 21st.   In Mwanza Tanzania, I noticed that there was no music!  I taught a few songs in primary and found that they do not lack talent. The children sang with perfect pitch and rhythm.  Why wasn't there music then?  Poverty?...Lack of Parental commitment?....Laziness?... Educational inadequacy?....I have come to the conclusion that it is a little of all these things, but basically they have never had an opportunity to experience music in their lives and do not realize the importance!....We are very blessed to be able to access music here in America.  The internet, TV, Radio, Church, CD's, Ipods, Ipads, video games...I can go on and on.  WE ARE SO SPOILED!  The people in Mwanza are trying to physically survive, but if music could enter their lives just imagine the happiness that would envelope them especially through hard times.  This semester let's seek out every opportunity given us to include more music or higher levels of learning in our lives so we can bless the lives of others.  The only regrets I hear from people everywhere is that they wished they would have kept playing the piano so they could have mastered it.  Piano is hard in this day and age.  There are so many things to steal our time away from practice. MY NEW YEAR'S WISH.... Let their always be music in our homes and country and let their be no regrets in ones old age for not have continued piano study.  This semester's theme:  OH THE PLACES YOU'LL GO....Songs from around the globe...emphasizing the 50 states of America.... A celebration of song in completing 50 states in marathons.  RECITAL MAY 10th 5-8pm...
